On April 30th, a diverse group of Rail Cluster members came together at Scottish Engineering’s Glasgow office for a thought-provoking Networking Event, hosted in collaboration with Bellrock Technology. The session offered a valuable opportunity to explore how artificial intelligence and data are driving innovation across the rail sector.

We were delighted to welcome experts from Bellrock Technology, who shared their insights into the evolving role of AI in rail. Their presentation sparked engaging discussions around smarter operations, real-time insights, and the importance of collaboration in shaping the future of the industry.
A key focus of the session was deckchair®, Bellrock Technology’s solution-as-a-service platform designed to accelerate the deployment of secure, real-time data solutions. More than just a software tool, deckchair® enables organisations to unlock the value of their data without the burden of costly development or technical debt.
One standout example was Bellrock Technology’s collaboration with Angel Trains. By using deckchair® to analyse live data from key train components, Angel Trains is gaining deeper insights into asset behaviour and enabling more proactive, data-driven decision-making. This partnership is helping to lay the groundwork for smarter, more efficient operations across the UK rail network.
The event also provided a great opportunity for members to connect over a networking lunch, exchanging ideas and experiences from across the sector. The variety of perspectives in the room made for a rich and engaging session.

A big thank you to Bellrock Technology for hosting, and to all the Rail Cluster members who attended and contributed to the conversation. Your enthusiasm and engagement made the event a real success.
